What is Alight 12th Ave?

It’s a high-quality Norman apartment community designed especially with University of Oklahoma students in mind. Alight 12th Ave features spacious 2 and 3 bedroom furnished apartments plus a full set of community features such as a 24-hour fitness center, clubhouse, pool and private shuttle bus, all just minutes from campus.

Is Alight 12th Ave part of the University of Oklahoma?

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Alight 12th Ave has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. What is included in the rate?

Each resident at Alight 12th Ave pays a rental installment with a flat utility/amenity fee that includes:

  • Furnishings
  • Electricity
  • Internet
  • Trash removal
  • In-unit laundry
  • Community features – fitness center, pool, etc.
What size are the apartments?

The spacious accommodations at Alight 12th Ave include 2-bedroom (850 square feet) and 3-bedroom (1,200 square feet) apartments, with a private bathroom for each bedroom.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes, all apartments at Alight 12th Ave have a furniture package that includes a full-size bed, a storage dresser, nightstand, desk and chair in each bedroom, plus a sofa, chair and coffee table in each living room. When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 11, 2022 to July 24, 2023, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

After a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to secure their financial obligation in one of three ways: by providing a qualifying guarantor (often a parent); by pre-paying the final 2 installments; or by purchasing a third-party guaranty from our partner, Leap. In limited cases, we may also waive the requirement for a financial guaranty if a resident has sufficient income of their own.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Alight 12th Ave also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Alight 12th Ave?

Your living costs at Alight 12th Ave can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Alight 12th Ave. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Alight 12th Ave open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at Alight 12th Ave are students at the University of Oklahoma, and the per-person contracts are designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, Alight 12th Ave is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Alight 12th Ave is a gated community with a monitored fire sprinkler system, plus electronic locks and individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also on-site and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Alight 12th Ave is pet-friendly, subject to limits on animals and breed. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at Alight 12th Ave?

Alight 12th Ave offers free parking for residents, plus limited guest parking.

What other transportation options will I have?

Alight 12th Ave has a private shuttle bus directly to the University of Oklahoma and back when school is in session, during the Fall and Spring semesters. Service runs Monday through Friday every 30 minutes from 7:00am to 7:00pm. It’s just a seven-minute ride to campus. Or bike or drive to the OU campus in minutes.
